HereAfter AI Pricing: What It Cost, and What Happened to Lifetime Plans
People search for HereAfter AI's pricing for two very different reasons now. Some are still paying and want to know what for. Some paid once, for "lifetime", and want to know what that word meant when the company closed in 2026. This page answers both, with the numbers as they still appear on the App Store, and then asks the more useful question: what should the next price list you read have on it?
Last checked: 11 September 2026. We build a competing product; our own prices are at the end, for comparison, not as the point.
The plans, as listed
The company's own pricing pages are gone with its website. The iOS App Store listing still shows the in-app purchases:
- Starter: $3.99 a month
- Storyteller: $5.99 a month
- Unlimited: $7.99 a month
- Storyteller Single Payment: $159.99, once
- Unlimited Single Payment: $199.99, once
- An item labelled only "HereAfter AI": $99.99
What separated the tiers, how many interview chapters, how many family members, whether you could download your audio as files, is not published anywhere we could check today. Users have described file downloads as a feature of the top tier; we could not confirm the exact boundaries and will not guess. If you kept a receipt or a welcome email, it is now the best record of what you bought.
What "single payment" turned out to mean
A one-time purchase for a hosted service is a bet on the company's lifetime, not yours. That is not a criticism of HereAfter specifically, every "lifetime" plan in every category works this way, but families in this category are buying something they intend to keep for decades, and the mismatch matters more here than for a photo-editing app. The practical translation: a lifetime plan is worth exactly as much as the export button next to it.
If you are still being charged
Store subscriptions do not stop when a company closes; they stop when you cancel them in the store. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling keeps access until the end of the paid period, which is irrelevant now, cancel anyway.
Refunds: what is realistic
The company published no refund policy with its closing notice, and its website no longer exists to publish one. That leaves the store you paid through:
- Apple: request at reportaproblem.apple.com, choosing the purchase and "the service isn't working as expected". Apple decides case by case and favours recent purchases.
- Google Play: the automatic window is 48 hours; after that you request through Play's refund form, and Google may refer you back to the developer, who is no longer answering.
Keep the request short and factual: the service closed, the date, the amount. Neither store guarantees anything for a closed service, and we do not want to promise what they will not, but a two-minute form is worth filing.
What to demand from the next price list
Four things, in the order that matters after 2026:
- Export on every plan, not only the top one, and in open formats (MP3, JPG, plain text).
- Public prices, on a page, without a sales call. If a company will not print the number, it expects to change it.
- Monthly with cancellation, even if yearly is cheaper. A hosted memory should never be a bet.
- A written deletion promise, including from any third-party voice provider.
For what it is worth: MemoAgent plans start at about $30 a month (₪100), yearly is cheaper on most plans, there is a one-week free trial without a card, and export is not tied to a tier, photos with one click, everything else on request (in writing). The price list is public. Whether ours is the right product for your family is a different question, and we tried to answer it fairly in HereAfter AI alternatives. What happened to the company, and in what order, in What happened to HereAfter AI; how to get your recordings out first, in the export guide.
FAQ
How much did HereAfter AI cost?
Three monthly plans, Starter $3.99, Storyteller $5.99, Unlimited $7.99, plus one-time purchases: Storyteller Single Payment $159.99, Unlimited Single Payment $199.99, and a $99.99 item simply labelled "HereAfter AI". These are the in-app purchases still listed on the iOS App Store as of 11 September 2026. What each tier included is no longer published anywhere we can verify.
I bought a lifetime plan. Do I get my money back?
There is no published refund policy from the company. Your realistic route is the store you paid through: Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play. Both decide case by case, both favour recent purchases, and neither guarantees a refund for a service that closed, but a short, factual request costs nothing.
Is my subscription still charging me?
Possibly. Store subscriptions renew until you cancel them in the store itself, deleting the app or the company closing its website does not stop the charge. Check Settings → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android.
What does MemoAgent cost, for comparison?
